Security risks of unencrypted Plex Server via ngrok?

I was finally able to set up my Plex Server (running on a Fujitsu ThinClient with Ubuntu 20.04) with remote access.

Since I have CGNAT I wasn’t able to use port forwarding so I used ngrok to bypass it.

Unfortunately I was only able to get this setup to work with no encryption. So I reach my Plex Server outside of my home network via http and not https.

How much of a security risk is this? Something like “Plex can see what videos you’re streaming” or more of a “Someone can get into your home network” situation?

Afaik somebody could snoop your traffic and get a bunch of information on you. So, yeah, don’t do that. If you can only get one port to work, make it https. Even if it’s a non standard port
