Use Cases

I want to search my media and then add all results quickly to a playlist.

You should already be able to multi-select your results (or items from a library screen). This works by manually selecting the individual items – or selecting the 1st, scroll to the last item and select that holding the shift key (⇧).

That being said… there’s an existing feature suggestion to add a “Select All” button similarly to the “Deselect All” option already available in the multi-select action bar. Unless I’m very much mistaken and you’re looking for something very different, I recommend you comment/vote in that thread in order to avoid distracting/dispersing votes (closing this thread as a duplicate).

Please add "Select All" to go with your "Deselect All"

If I have my movies filed in folders by type and I want to quickly add a collection tag to all of them, I have to manually select each one before I can do that. i can deselect easily but I can’t select them quickly. This would be a huge timesaver for people who also file their media in folders this way.

Yeah, you are right. Didnt find it by search because the search engine sucks. Try “select all” gives a lot of garbage. I did upvote the existing FR.

Just build an “Advanced Filter” which includes all your search terms. (logical OR and AND possible)
You can save this filter as either a smart (i.e. “self-updating”) playlist or a smart collection.
