+1 but from 2012, how important do we all think this is to the devs… this would be invaluable IMO.

What a boring world it would be where all we were allowed to work on were things which customers requested! Surely there’s a healthy mix, and based on initial feedback a lot of people are enjoying the photo tagging feature.

So my point is, yes, life would be very boring if we were limited to doing only the things which customers (or just power users) were asking for.
About this important. ![]()
+1 For Me!
This would be very handy for me as I have 10+ clients at various locations! Would be easier than texting them all etc!
+1 for me!

I hope it isn’t bad form to plug a third-party solution for this that already exists (mods, feel free to delete this post if it is), but my Android companion app, nuVue, just added this functionality about a month ago. In addition to new media notifications, which is what it was originally created for, you can send messages to both users that you share you libraries with and server owners that share their libraries with you. If they also use nuVue, the message will be delivered in-app. If they don’t, it will be sent via email to the address used to register their Plex account. You can check out the app here: http://nuvueapp.com, and read more about the new shared library features here: http://nuvueapp.com/blog/wait-no-more/. I’m all for this being implemented in Plex-proper. But in the meantime, see a need, fill a need.
It’s been nearly two years since I plugged my companion app’s implementation of this feature, so I think it’s safe to do it again without feeling like I’m taking advantage of this thread. If Plex won’t add this, then consider supporting your friendly neighborhood indie app developer to get the messaging you crave. (Yes, it’s still Android-only. Sorry iOS users.)
[end shameless promotion]

I think a countdown to a scheduled maintainance would be nice. Also a message that comes up during that time if a user tries to access the server so that they are aware of it being a scheduled downtime
support. would be infinitely useful

Awesome idea
This will be perfect. I like the idea of a live feed displayed at home when I’m going to shutdown computer or do something with Plex. Would be great to message all or specific users and vice versa.
WHY IS THIS NOT ADDED YET?!?

Please add this
I think this would be a great feature. I could notify users of maintenance or other messages. If the function could work both ways I could easily accept user requests as well.
I would like to see this added aswell!
If there is a more requested feature, I can’t imagine what it could be.
Let me go look… If there is one, it must be awesome.
+1 from me
+1 from me, really would love this feature added
In the mean time you could use PlexRequests.net to send messages to your users. Or PlexPy to send them Recently Added updates.
Don’t misunderstand me at all. I honestly think both of these fantastic apps (Or PlexRequests, which is also a fine app.) need to be rolled into Plex’s Web App. Or at the very least have a place for us to input them as 3rd party links in the Web App.
The fact that apps like these have been written shows that Plex’s vision isn’t quite the same as the user community’s vision. And only highlights the shortcomings of Plex’s vision…
Please think about this option…even an add-on like Plexpy.
