It would be nice to remind users to watch at original quality if possible as my my friends watch through web gui and sometimes its transcoding when it could easily just play at original, just a few second buffering at first but smooth sailing from their. Also would be nice to leave a request link to google forms as channel plugin is too buggy as i don’t really want to explain to all my user one by one.
the idea of having a text box on the screen somewhere for admins to display to users is an amazing idea.
the same way that plex displays a long movie description with a window that slowly scrolls the text. great for giving a heads up to users about: upcoming downtime for restarts/upgrades , upcoming/new content & of course saying hello to the family

If you go to Now Playing, you can now STOP a user’s playback and when you do, you’re given the option to send a message to them. The backend, as far as I can tell, now has this functionality already, it’s just severely limited in scope.
Please Plex, give this feature greater breadth - having to stop all viewers to send them a message is tedious.
Can we get any staff insight in this? I’d like this feature as well but if something popular is ignored for 5 years, well …
+1 here as well. Have been dreaming of this for a long time. When I have to reboot something for maintenance it would be great to push something to people letting them know. E.g. All active streams, or target a stream. I have noticed that it’s now possible to send a message when you manually stop a stream, but it would be great to do it without stopping the stream as a notification for planned maintenance or something.
Feels like we’ve been ignored about this feature for the past 5yrs and still nothing.

+1 for this idea , i have my users check omni if the server is not working and i post a message on the landing screen, but to send a message to all users via plex would be great
If this ever gets addressed, my inbox will be super happy to get 30 less

Funny that nobody “from Plex” seems to reply? Is that common? I mean, I
love my plex, if only because Emby doesn’t have a decent client for my TV,
but seriously… Isn’t Plex a community funded thing with developers who
respond to requests from the paying public to make it better? Are there
other feature requests with even more traffic than this one?

This section, request features is really for people to praise or bash your ideas. To keep the people at bay by way of letting us speak on what Plex should be like.

I’m currently migrating my server to new hardware. While i’m migrating, all new files are added to the new server. I would love to inform my users about this when they log in (Similar to the banner on top for new server versions)
