Is there a request for a static server message? Something like this:
This server message request sounds fancier than I even need. I just want a simple note at the top when they select the server would suffice.

This is exactly what I want too. Would be a great feature.
With as popular as this is Iâm surprised that there has been no progress made on it in almost 6 yearsâŠ
Is this even being considered by the devs? any information on the status is better than being left int he dark.
Wow , almost 90 votes since 2012 and not 1 update from the Plex team. I just came to these forums to put in a request for this. Just a way to send a message to my âFriendsâ. This thread is one of the more "Popularâ threads and yet , no comment in 6 years from the plex team.
As much as I love Plex and think its wonderful, What is the point in having a voteing system and listening to your users (Paying customers and Non-Paying)?
Any type of Feedback goes a long way. Even if its, âno, we wont be adding this featureâ or âWere looking into itâ⊠Just some type of communication to your users would be great. Not 6+ years of nothing and letting the customer just wonder

There were alot more before the transition to the new site.
I donât anymore. Donât ever think your idea will be implemented unless you have a crap ton of money you can bribe them with. That or you are buddy-buddy(Iâm not just talking about holding hands) with multiple key figures in the dev group or higher ups
I know this seems like a dead request, but I would also like this feature.
Iâve found no other way that is convenient for users for me to announce things to users like a scheduled downtime or even links to useful info like a request app.
So many times Iâve had even savvy users asking me for links to my stuff because they donât save the link or something and Plex on a Roku/phone/xbox is their only interaction we have.
I know we can email them but sometimes it would be more convenient to have a reminder or a tip once in a while like âYou can change quality to automatic if you are having issues bufferingâ or something to that effect.
My two ideas are:
- A tip system, so I can write 15-20 tips on how to use Plex
- Notification system, something to the effect of: " Iâll be shutting the server down for 12 hours for maintenance starting tomorrow at 6pm PST"
Just wanted to throw my vote in and make it known to the Plex Devs that this is a useful feature, even just for home users.

I also would like to see this feature to be implemented very soon.
Just to inform about server downtimes or even state what has been updated in the movie data base since the last login of the respective user.

+1 this suggestion. I just recently started a group SMS message to send out notifications, but I have to remind everyone not to reply to the message so people donât get spammed. Every time I do this, I think how much easier this would be if I could just send a message out from Plex directly - like âdown for maintenanceâ or âCheck out the new Christmas Collectionâ. Small, simple, customizable messages would be very useful!

This is all I want. Just let whoever uses the server that day know that something is happening so I donât get a bunch of texts of âwhy is Plex downâ.

So this thread is six years old? Seriously, I get scolded for putting up a similar thread. This ones been buried for 6 years?
This feature wouldnât be that hard, they already allow you to send a message when kicking someone off the server. Well, not that it works, at least on xbox360, Roku and AppleTV. Iâve found while testing it out.
But yes, a daily UI message. And a instant/temp movie overlay message, would be something Iâd like to see.
Not sure what year you posted, but they currently have the feature you mentioned. Go to âcurrently playingâ select user and select âXâ, input message. NOTE: People telling me they arenât seeing the message and some arenât getting disconnected. But at least PLEX is tryingâŠ
Shocking to see that Plex can send movies, music, pictures, podcasts, news and plug-ins to several people 1,000s miles away, yet unable to send a simple text messageâŠ

It can be done. You got to give them a reason that makes THEM believe they should have it.
Example, what if the server messages was the only way to renew your subscription.
They be like âdamn, we got to get server messages up and running now!!â
Bump to see if we get any response from devs. Thank you for all that you do. I hope we can see this feature in the future.
Bumping for visibility as well. Hoping they have a chance to look over our use cases and get this implemented.
My workaround of a library dedicated to tutorials and a few notices go⊠well unnoticed.
