Agree, sad thing is the code already exist to do this, since when you kill a stream you can send a message, no reason why we shouldnt be able to just send a message to a “streamId” w/out killing it. I would think it would me a minor enhancement to make the api endpoint.

Would also like to see this. I’d be ok with just a static message of the day, but custom push notifications also seems like a great idea.
For the MOTD, I recently disabled video transcoding (thanks for adding it) and like the idea of a MOTD to alert users to it and act as a reminder until everyone’s used changing their settings. When I have planned outages, being able to show people a message would also be great.
This function has MY vote.
Being able to communicate downtime, maintenance, new libraries. I could announce my seasonal libraries, like a Halloween collection, or Christmas collections… or even ask for donations for more HD space would be nice.

On peut voir la chose autrement : Une sorte de “message du jour” sur l’accueil de Plex pour les utilisateurs. S’affiche au dessus de la liste des films.
i add myself to the request, it would be very nice to send a message through plex instead to take a phone and message all the ppl online etc… please implement it.

Wow this feature was requested almost 8 years ago and has 506 comments and 604 votes. Surely this very simple functionality could be implemented by the very talented Plex dev team in no time?!

Every so often I come to look to see where this thread is…seems like a fairly easy thing to add to the banner of the home page, just like we see with new updates. It would be of so much use so my family gets a heads up easy when I want to schedule things instead of having to use a different external to the server process.
I agree, why stop play to give a message , just send an alert message that one can read then dismiss off the screen once read.

I love Plex, the dev team does a great job overall, but I’m a bit astonished that this hasn’t been implemented when it’s been heavily requested for 8 years!
Pleaseeeeee, give us this! 
Even just a bar that shows up on the home screen of all server users that the sever admin could update anytime they want.
Anyone have an idea of an ETA for this
