Sequel of a movie being considered a different version

For the life of me I can’t get Scary Movie 2 to show up. I have everything names as it should be on TMDB. The first, 3,4 and 5 show up just fine. Finally after looking around and getting different copies of the movie I noticed it is being considered as another version of the 1st movie for some reason. No other sequel to other movies has done that so it’s just odd

If you had the movie already added to Plex, you might need to perform a “Plex Dance” in order to clear the wrong data from the initial match:

1. move the files outside the scope of that library
2. scan the library for updates
3. empty trash and clear bundles
4. fix the file names and return them to their target folders
5. scan the library for updates again

The Plex Dance ™

The purpose of this is to remove all cached metadata and xml data for an item that Plex usually keeps. This helps when you want to “start from scratch” for particular item move all files for the media item out of the directory your Library is looking at, so Plex will not “see” it anymore scan the library library (to detect changes) empty trash clean bundles (in the menu next to server name, when accessed under ‘More’. Thanks for the reply. I have everything labeled as you say. Have done the dance to no avail. Still being considered a different version of Scary Movie 1

Those mp4 files are jam-packed with bogus embedded title fields…:

Video File Naming

With LMA in priority, Embedded Titles within MP4/M4V files are preferred - even over a perfect file name. Local Media Assets should - AT ALL TIMES - remain enabled (unless specifically instructed to turn it off). Local Media Assets should be ‘Demoted’, to the bottom of the stack of active agents under ALL tabs in Shows and Movies, but should NOT be disabled. I’ll let ya know in a few minutes how it goes when LMA isn’t borking the matches for us - 'cause embedded metadata plays no part at my house in at least 3 levels of protection (we suit up in Juicetown - several times - cause whatever that file is infected with when it arrives, I don’t want Plex rubbing it all over my clean underwear/silverware/toothbrushes/corn flakes/ect).
