Plex recognizing wrong movie

Server Version#: 1.19.3.2764
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.30.2

can anyone explain to me why something so simple as adding a movie with the correct title and release is apparently so hard for this app to understand.

What I am adding:
House Party (1990)/house.party.(1990).mkv
House Party 2 (1991)/house.party.2.(1991).mkv

What it’s doing:
It is adding them both as “House Party 1990” and telling me that I have a duplicate copy with a #2 in the upper left corner. When looking at the info it shows the two files with COMPLETELY different names but telling me that they are the same.

Even if I remove both House Party (1990) and House Party 2 (1991), Plex Dance, then add only House Party 2 (1992) back it still adds it as “House Party 1990” with all of metadata for the first movie.

I have tried renaming the files differently and Plex dancing 9 different times and it doesn’t fix it. I have tried multiple different copies. This is very annoying seeing as it is part of the 5 movie collection.

Is this an issue with themoviedb.com or with Plex?

Are you adding the folders of each movie individually to your library i.e. by editing the library and extending the list of folder on the ‘Add Folder’ tab?

Or are both these folders stored inside a general “Movies” folder, which itself is added to the Plex library?

If the latter, use ‘Split’, followed by ‘Fix Match’.

Crap…Fix match worked. I have only been Plexing for about 45days and have not had this happen before so I was not aware of that option. But yes that worked perfectly.

Thanks OttoKerner, and sorry for wasting your time with something that ended up being so simple.
