I've created a new thread as the old one was getting quite cluttered. The important details are below:
I've included a download to my modified S - BABS (for Series - BABS), which sorts absolute-numbered items in series. To run this, you will need to follow the regular instruction for setting up a scanner, and in addition, you will need to include a tvdb.id file in the anime folder which contains the ID of the anime (which you obtain from TVDB). I've included a sample tvdb.id file for Fairy Tail (zipped to allow upload: tvdb.zip (118 Bytes))
The package lxml was not installed on my openmediavault machine. I had to install it manually, at least to debug. It could be due to the packaging of plex on openmediavault.
HI, i am the developper for HAMA, and have one issue can't overcome currently with titles having a year between brackets:
. Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki [made in 1992]
. Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki (1994)
. Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki (2003)
The title i receive in "search" is without the year, and the media.filename attribute is None
is there any way we can leave the year in the series title or is that out of the reach of the scanner ?
@sjai013: would you know how to solve that one issue? i know for your version of the scanner the TVDB agent is probably the best match, but i need somebody with a scanner expertise, and while i read the source code, i could not follow the flow and spirit behind it
I'm struggling to get a couple shows to list as the correct show entirely. The anime's in question are "Monster" and "K." I have them named as follows:
Monster\1 - Herr Dr. Tenma
The same formatting exists for all episodes on both shows. Monster is being labeled as "Monster High," and K has half of the episodes correct while the other half are showing up as "K-9." I have cross referenced the episode names with several internet databases, and am frankly dumbfounded as to how BABS can be confusing these.

The matching of shows to names is done by the agent, not the scanner (i.e. not by BABS). Unless you're using S - BABS, in which case, the matching (for the assignment of season/episode) is done by the ID defined in the tvdb.id (if such a file exists, otherwise the file structure is used). Let me know if I've understood your query incorrectly or if you require further help.
The scanner role is to decide if the detected file show or not in plex, and get extract the serie name, season and episode number
The metadata agent then is called to map the serie and episodes. Please post in the adequate thread this is a metadata agent issue
"monster high" doesn't exist on Anidb, so you must be using the TVDB.com metadata agent, with an absolute mode scanner if you posted here...
If you are not using The Absolute mode TVDB agent with an absolute mode scanner (which you had to download and install manually so you made an informed choice) located here: "https://forums.plex.tv/topic/33006-absolute-order-tvdb-agent/" then you are a moron (due to the time it took to write that post, which is underdocumented, posted in the wrong thread, with no mention of the agent and metadata agent used, with only vague statements, i feel entitled as HAMA maintainer to insult you...)
Also it is good practice to DOCUMENT the issue to also help people having similar issues.
. Indicate the scanner used and the metadata agent used. Please post identification issues in the correct metadata agent thread.
. Also when posting there, please indicate the tvdb serie page (for TVDB agent and HAMA) and anidb serie page (for HAMA agent)
Just to make sure I got everything right so I don't post anything stupid thinking its an error while it was how things were supposed to work.
This scanner searches for a tvdb.id file in the anime folder that has the files which contains the ID of an anime in thetvdb (ex: 81797 for One Piece).
What happens if the files are in sub-folders and you put the id file in the root folder? Does it count for the sub-folders as well?
If the file is found does it display the anime in seasons as in the screenshots posted above or are they a product of properly structured folder (everything in its own season folder)?
This scanner searches for a tvdb.id file in the anime root folder (optional) and if present it must contain the ID of an anime in thetvdb (ex: 81797 for One Piece).
Being an absolute order scanner, files need to use absolute numbering (no season folders).
It will split episodes in seasons inside plex as if it was in season folders in the first place , then the tvdb metadata agent can add metadata.
If not tvdb.id file is there, it will show files as they are as long as they match file and series pattern (the scanner decides what is shown or not and decide the season and episode number from the folder and file names)
OK I have this issue where a library consists of 2 folders in 2 different external drives. I use S-BABS to scan them and I only get the contents of 1 folder added. The contents of the other are ignored entirely.
When I was using the default scanner I did not have this issue. Is that a known bug or am I doing something wrong?
EDIT: Tried changing the scanner to the default one and it located all of my anime so its not a general installation issue. The agent I am using is TheTVDB one that comes with plex although that shouldn't make a difference.
Yes both folders were added. Been removing and re-adding the library for the past 2 days now to see what goes on. The version you suggested picks up both folders.
Say this is my folder structure: D:\Videos\TV Shows\Naruto\Naruto Shippuden\[Season]\Episode 1
Do I just create a file named tvdb.txt and put "79824" in it then rename it to tvdb.id?
Then where does that go? Just in the Naruto Shippuden folder?
Also, do I have to create a separate library just for things that are absolutely numbered since this scanner won't work for the other shows?
thetvdb is down at the moment so I cant check if you got the ID right but yes the main idea is have the tvdb.id file containing just the number you put there (without the quotes ofc).
Yes you can create a tvdb, txt and then rename it to tvdb.id (or open notepad and save it directly as tvdb.id) and it has to be placed in the Naruto Shippuden folder.
You do not need a separate library for things that are not in absolute numbering. If it does not find the tvdb.id file it will work as a normal scanner.
to solve my problem about One Piece, I read all posts about BABS, S-BABS scanner and metadata agent AbsTVDB, HAMA AniDB without solution.
this is the question, i have "One Piece" folder with inside the seasons' folders (the seasons are split in the same order of wikipedia that is different than TVDB) and the episodes are with absolute episode number.
One Piece/
1a Stagione/
2a Stagione - Saga dell'ingresso nella Rotta Maggiore/
One Piece 70 - Il Tempo Si È Fermato.avi*
One Piece 71 - I Giganti.avi*
One Piece 72 - L'Ira Di Rubber.avi*
One Piece 73 - L'Ultima Sfida.avi*
........
3a Stagione - Appare Chopper ~ Saga dell'isola invernale/
4a Stagione - Alabasta ~ Saga del regno/
5a Stagione - TV Original/
6a Stagione - Isola nel cielo ~ Saga di Skypiea/
......
- if I use AbsTVDB, Plex will show only 1 serie with absolute number episode (it's ok, but I would like to see in plex the episodes split in seasons)
- i tried S-BABS + TVDB but with this method i have to move all my episodes out of seasons' folders into the root (i don't like so much). Plex will show me seasons split but the episode number in every season starts from 1 (i would like to see the absolute episode number)
So, is it possible to keep my folder structure having the same result with S-BABS + TVDB with also the view of the absolute episode numbering?
