Server Become Unresponsive During Scans

Anytime I initiate a media scan on a library my server becomes unresponsive within a minute or so until the library scan completes. I’ve had to turn off all scanning except the auto library refresh scan done during scheduled tasks, which i have set to run overnight, so it doesn’t disrupt access to the server. I’ve looked at the logs and I can’t find anything, though I may just be missing it. Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing that a faster processor wouldn’t cure. Intro scanning, thumbnails and chapters are done on the CPU. If it wasn’t for the Nvidia GPU you probably would have upgraded long ago.
