Server "Currently unavailable" despite being on

Server Version#:v.1.42.2.10156-f737b826c
Player Version#:v.1.112.0.359-0d79a49f

Hello,

I’ve been using Plex since 2019 and have had no issues with my server until two days ago. My “Plex media server” app is constantly shutting down when I try to interact with the main player app. It stays on for a few minutes, then shuts down. Along with that, even when the server is running, it says that “(Username) is currently unavailable” even when the “Media server” app is on. I know the server is shutting down because the bar at the bottom right of a Windows operating system, which normally shows what apps are running, shows that the server has stopped. It will be on the bar for a bit, then disappear, which means it’s no longer running.

I don’t know what is causing this issue. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling the media server and the main player, but it hasn’t helped. I also tried using PlexDBRepair, and restarting the PC that the server is on, and it still did not help. Both my antivirus and vpn have been turned off as well.

If anyone has any advice, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Sorry if my description of this situation isn’t great. I’m not familiar with a lot of the technical side of Plex

I tried posting my logs, but the file was too large because I don’t have access to my profile, I can’t download the logs from the server itself, and I had to do it through the files itself.

<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>

You can put them on something like Google Drive, Dropbox.

Hi, I’ll try to upload the logs to google drive when I get back from work tonight.

Here is a link to the Google Drive with the logs. Thanks

Hi, is there anything in the logs that provides any information about the issue? If the link is not working, please let me know.

Thanks.

Wrong logs. You will need to manually grab the server logs. ← click on that then scroll down to “Manually Finding Log Files”

Hi, unfortunately, that is where I got my logs from “%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs”

I even retyped it to make sure the files are the same, and the same “Log” folder comes up. Is there any other place the log should be? Should I just send the entire “Media Server” folder with all of the files in that?

Thanks.

You want the files in that “Logs” folder only. Not the ones in any of the subfolders. The files you provided earlier are for the “Installer Logs” subfolder.

Logs.zip (1.3 MB)

Hi, here is the folder, but without the subfolders “PMS Plugin Logs” and “Installer Logs” it should just be the server logs.

You are running an older version of plex 1.41.8.9834-071366d65 current version is 1.42.2.10156 I think but havent confirmed that your server may be affected by a security bug that plex flagged and prevented access to until it got updated. Otherwise looking at your logs I am going to say you may have a firewall issue if its not the update issue.
