Hello i have the newest plex server version. I just started getting server is not powerful enough. But i dont understand why. This is on videos that i had played just recently, so i know it works.
What info/logs does someone need to figure this out? Plex is really starting to piss me the ■■■■ off and ill just go back to Emby at this point.
So update. This started before i updated. I updated to the newest server as of today. Still had the issue. I read online that the “disabled video stream transcoding” setting could be the issue. I have had no issues like this and i have been watching movies with no issue with this check marked this whole time.
So i decided to uncheck mark this and now the videos are playing fine.
Has anyone had the same issue? In a few months will i need to recheck mark this when the issue comes back? Why would this setting break randomly when its been working fine?
If Disable Video Stream Transcoding is enabled and Plex needs to transcode the video, then playback fails and Plex displays the “server not powerful enough” message.
You can monitor playback via Plex Dashboard → Now Playing + Expanded View to see if the video is transcoding.
So i get that it would need to transcode a video, but the issue that i was confused on is the same videos have played before with no issues. Would casting device updates maybe cause this? I use nividia shield and chromecasts at my house. Tbh, i dont know which one the video played on before with no issues but it seemed that the shield failed this time around.
