Server keeps closing

I just updated todays Mac server update and now the stupid thing keeps shutting down on it’s own I have come in three times to see that it was closed? What is the deal?

Version 1.13.9.5456-ecd600442

Did you figure out what was causing this? PMS on my mac-mini keeps shutting down as well.

Thanks

Nope. Stopped using it and went to Emby. Support is so much better there.

Make sure you have updated the server Version 1.14.1.5488, I have not had a Trans coder crash in over a week.

Check your Mac Mini logs
Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports
Found in Library in “GO” menu top of desktop, Hold down option Key.

Logs please with debug logging enabled and crash reporting enabled

I just turned on verbose logging, next time it crashes, I’ll download the logs and upload to this forum. I’m pretty sure it will be pretty soon.

Thanks

I’m having the same issue on iMac (10.14.2) Plex server refuses to start then load automatically shuts down. When I log on to web page, server is still unobtainable, so I cannot get the logs.

just found this article and did what it said and worked!

I have attached the log files from the most recent crash. Sorry I was not available for awhile and I then needed to recreate the issue.

The last crash was after comskip completed processing recording for The Resident (2018)/Season 02/The Resident (2018) - S02E10 - After the Fall.ts
Do you know if the crashes also arise when comskip is not used ?

How frequent were the crashes after the 14th Jan crash?

I turned off the commercial skip feature and it does seem more stable, but did still crash.

I am probably crashing every 2-3 days now. I believe it is related to DVR feature, wish there is a magic on/off switch for DVR without losing all the schedule setup and channel selections.

Thanks

Brent

would like to see logs after a crash when comskip was not running

The scheduled programs should not get lost after, say, deleting and re-creating the DVR. Did you find they do ?

So I went through and made sure the default for DVR was to not remove commercials AND I checked each recording, some I had apparently not used the default and set it to remove commercials. I have not shutdown since this I made these changes on Feb 4. So almost 1 week without a shutdown. Seems like issue might be related to the commercial skip issue, is that taxing the hardware too much or something?

Interestingly, I also have a PLEX server on my QNAP NAS unit, that use to have all sort of issues, but recently I turned it back on and have enable it to record many of the same shows and set it to remove commercials, it has not shut down at all. The CPU of the MAC MINI is much stronger than that of the QNAP NAS and the Mac Mini is really pretty much dedicated to this being a Plex server now, no network sharing or anything. So I would think the Mac Mini would not have a problem with commercial removal.
