Server Not powerful enough

Xeon E-5 1650. I would think this would be able to transcode 2 streams at once. One is 720p, one is 1080p but I would of thought this CPU could handle that. Trying to watch 2 movies at once, Downstairs on the Roku and upstairs on my PC. On my PC i can’t go a minute without it doing nothing but stuttering.

Trying to play the file over the web browser connected wired to the server.
What am I doing wrong?

I find the bitrate has a major influence as to CPU usage.

While your 2 are 720p and 1080p that is only part of the story!

Make sure your are not downloading any file located on the same location of your librairy or doing order activity that can use your HDD while you stream your video. High HDD activity will cause shuttering and order issues.

a good place to look at it on windows is by typing this on command prompt perfmon.exe /res
and then start your streaming… Search for the overutilize resources CPU and HDD.

good luck.

may be the audio not playing nice I have a similar problem with a few file’s,.

but post the log’s next time it happens .

If that 1080p file is VC-1 that’ll turn your Cadillac into a Yugo.

Thanks for the replys I’ll look into it more and see if I can figure it out.
I’ll post logs when it happens again
