Seeing the red exclamation badge every time I visit Server settings, and it’s kind of tempting to turn that on to turn that on, even if I never use it.
Like something is wrong with my set up.
I wonder how many people turned that on just following that thought. How many lost their data, their possessions, their families, their lives. just because of this red badge.
Putting aside the drama and the fact that remote access is a regular feature, not a gaping security hole…
What’s your actual suggestion here?
Do you want the remote access status indicator in the settings sidebar to be removed entirely?
Do you want a separate or no icon if remote access is disabled?
Something else entirely?
In 1590, 117 colonists disappeared from Roanoke Island off North Carolina. A thriving community – wiped out. Was Plex remote access to blame? We can’t be sure either way, but it makes you think.

For off state it’s better to not over-design and just show nothing rather than some “off” indicator.
