Setup: I run a PMS on my machine at home. My parents at their home also run a PMS. I share my media to their PMS.
1. Adding the ability to sync just like the android/iphone apps, but included in the PMS. Once the local PMS syncs the media from the remote PMS it would be automatically added to the local PMS for playback on the local network/DLNA. It wouldn't be a full server sync from remote PMS to local PMS, just on a per media file basis as the android/iphone apps do. This way they can sync a media file from my remote PMS and be able to access it across their PMS/DLNA. Or I could push a media file sync from my remote PMS to their local PMS and it would be available locally on their PMS/DLNA. This may also require some special User permissions to activate it.
2. DLNA rebroadcasting from a remote PMS server through the local PMS. So Local PMS connects to a remote PMS and the Local PMS broadcasts the remote PMS's media via DLNA. When a media file from the remote PMS is played over the local DLNA the local PMS handles the streaming/buffering from the remote PMS.
I am echoing this request.
I also have a couple of portable hard drives that have PMS built into them. I would love it if other PMSs would be listed in the client list so I could sync from my Main Server to the Portable ones.
if you just need to keep media synced “Resilio” works beautifully. better than I ever expected. it even syncs partial files.
in my setup, I have a folder where torrents are downloaded to. then on completion moved to another folder where plex can see them(prevents plex from seeing incomplete downloads) I add both these folders to my Resilio setup on all my servers and it syncs while it downloads the file, so on completion, all servers get it within about a minute of each other no matter the size of the file.
I would like to see this option natively in Plex as several of my servers are backups for one another.
as for keeping the “watched” database synced its a crapshoot. I use Trakt but its hit and miss.
