I have recently moved my Plex server onto my Nvidia Shield and have had it connected via Wi-Fi. Today I plugged it in via ethernet and I can’t access the server on anything other the Nvidia Shield. My parents are connected to my server through their Panasonic TV and were able to access media fine until I plugged the shield in with ethernet. I have also tried to connect on the web app but that says the server is unavailable as well.
I have tried Googling but can’t find any solutions.
Hmm, switch it back to WIFI. Go to server settings, network, click show advanced. There should be line “Preferred network interface” with dropdown - what is it set to and what options do you see when you click it?
So I unplugged the ethernet cable so that I could switch it back on to Wi-Fi and Plex disconnected completely and wouldn’t connect at all. I saw that there was a toggle button for ethernet so I plugged the ethernet cable back in and restarted the Shield so that I could just toggle the ethernet off.
I had the Plex web player open on my PC so that I could look at the settings you suggested and low and behold it connected straight away under an ethernet connection. It initially said “indirect” but then changed fairly quickly to its fully connected state.
I will phone my parents tomorrow and see if it is working their end but it looks like it has been fixed by the old “have you turned it off and on again?” trick.
