I have PMS installed on a WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra, and I mainly use it through my Fire Stick.
After updating to one of the recent versions (Version 1.43.3.10861); I’ve been experiencing some bugs, and I can’t see any way to resolve.
The Auto Play function doesn’t appear to work. I’ve checked and it’s switched on (I’ve tried deactivating and reactivating) but when watching a show, once it finishes Plex just sits on the ‘up next’ screen. It also tends to default to highlighting anything but the next episode. Sometimes it can be on the ‘play again’ and sometimes it can be on the other ‘continue watching’ options below. At no point does it automatically start playing the next episode, there’s no countdown and I have to manually select it each time.
Kind of annoying when I just want to put something on in the background while I’m doing something else.
Similarly the selection on the main screen is all over the place. When I first launch Plex it’ll show me the ‘recently added’ list, but it will actually be selecting an option on the ‘continue watching’ list, which is above and off-screen. Sometimes it’s actually the other way. It will show the ‘continue watching’ list and even look like it’s highlighting one of the options but if I click play (generally without navigating to something other than the default selection) then it will actually play the first item in the ‘recently added’ list, not what was visibly selected.
This can also happen if I back out of watching something and it goes back to the ‘continue watching’ it looks like it’s selecting another option, but when I press play it replays what I’ve just watched - often, if it’s a show I just watched before backing out it will play the last episode, not the next one.
Personally I’m also not a fan of the new menu location. I would have preferred it stay on the left, it just feels like it takes longer to navigate about; and I don’t like how it can no longer be customised as to what’s visible.
It’s also started asking me for Plex Pass at home. I utilise a VPN, which I need to turn off to use Plex now (is there a way around this?). It just seems like with each update more and more features are being put behind paywalls or becoming more restrictive unless you pay, and I feel like it’s just pushing users away to other platforms like Emby or Jellyfin; which is disappointing because Plex always felt like the most fleshed out option. I can understand putting ‘new’ features behind paywalls to keep the app afloat, but not taking things away that were previously available to all.
