Set PLEX as Default Music App in Windows 10

The ability to set PLEX as the default music app in Windows 10 doesn’t seem to be available. Is this being worked on/addressed?

Plex can’t read local music files so I’m not sure why you would need this.

Um, because PLEX is my preferred Music player.

PS PLEX reads/plays all 30K of my locally stored MP3s just fine.

Your Plex Media Server (PMS) will read your MP3 files, the clients do not. The clients (Plex Web, Plex for Windows App, or Plex Media Player) get the music from PMS, they do not directly read the files from your computer. There is no way to associate a music file with the Plex client.

The windows 10 app can absolutely read local files as long as they are in the windows library folders.

Edit: only for videos though, not for MP3’s. Apologies for any confusion.

Thank you for the clarifications. I understand the distinction between the server versus the app itself and how the files are handled. And now that I think it through, I understand your point.
