FreeNAS Server Version#: 11.2
PLEX Plugin Version#: 11.2-RELEASE-p15
I have 2 NICs defined and Network aggregation (LB). The first NIC has static IP address and the 2nd one doesn’t have. I have installed PLEX plugin and set a static IP address but didn’t work (keep looking for server). There are many options to select. I’m not sure what to select to make it working?
Can any one help?
This is probably best asked in the FreeNAS forums, that’s a plugin/jail config step not plex.
But AFAIK you should be able to set it in the config or just use DHCP reservation.
Can you clarify the “didn’t work” part? Can you not reach the server web app with the supposed fixed ip?
Here is what I have:
FreeNAs with 2 NICs
NIC1: Public IP, DG, DNS
NIC2: No IP
Link agg- Load Balancing
PLEX on FreeNAS,
VNET PUBLIC IP, SN, DG
When I try to brows PLEX’s IP with :32400 doesn’t sense FreeNAS IP which is weird
When you create the jail in FreeNAS, a new virtual NIC is created with it’s own MAC address. The IP address settings you select in the FreeNAS network configuration for the real, physical NICs in your box have nothing to do with the Plex jail (or any jail for that matter). So, if you are browsing to the IP address you assigned to your LAG interface (a.k.a. the IP for NIC1) expecting to find a Plex server at port 32400, that’s why there is nothing there.
As indicated already, you may statically assign an IP address, but you must do so in the Plex jail configuration. The chosen IP will then become the IP address of that virtual NIC created for the jail. Alternatively, you can set the jail to use DHCP and then reserve the IP you would prefer through the settings on your DHCP server. But, in either case, this will be a distinct IP address that is different from your FreeNAS IP.
