Set Sync transcode folder location

Ability to designate not just the streaming transcode folder location, but the location of the sync transcodes as well. This would be great for the nvidia shield and really should be in the preferences as is the regular transcode location option.

Shield PMS shouldn’t have that setting. You can only move the entire appdata folder which includes the sync folder too.

Hi!

I did transfer the app to the external usb storage and it still creates/uses the sync+ folder in the internal storage despite most of the other data being ported over. Seems to be a known problem/limitation looking around.

Just finally gave emby a try as a server on the shield. All these options are there out of the box and setup to working well time was 15 mins vs the hours I have spent trying to hammer this into place with plex. Sync encodes in hardware super fast and no space issues once I set the sync folder to the external drive.

Full library switch over almost complete now. Will give a few days use to confirm, but looks like I’ll be leaving plex behind as this issue has persisted for a year or two now with no resolution.

I hope you don’t plan to stream your media outside your network because there are many hoops to go through to get that working vs PLEX. I have both PLEX and EMBY on the Shield and it’s too troublesome to figure out for most people.

Hi! Thanks for the heads up.

I generally only stream locally at home and sync to iOS when travelling.

As it happens however after syncing beautifully on some smaller files it (emby) seems to hang on larger mkv files (ffmpeg). Might just stick to using the Mac Pro and put up with having that running all the time. Was hoping the shield would be a nice, quick transcoding/low power always on option.

Will see what emby support come up with from the logs though!
