Trying to set up Plex DVR on my LG Smart TV with Virgin Media and will not connect when I put IP Address in ?
Any advise please ?

Your statement isn’t very understandable.

You have to setup your DVR configuration (with Plex Pass) on a Plex Media Server (PMS). When you do that, it links that PMS to your Plex account. When you install a client (TV, android, PC, etc.), it requires you to login to the client with your Plex account and ties them all together.

Also should note that not all Plex clients support live TV / DVR functionality. This link outlines what you can use:

Is it best to have Plex Media Server on LG TV or Laptop ?

LG TV can only be the client, you needs a Plex Media Server to serve your media (or Live TV/DVR). Depending on the age of your LG TV, you might or might not be able to do Live TV/DVR (as outlined in my previous post).

Thank you very much for your advice.
I have used a laptop for the Server and still trying to set up my LG TV for live TV.

I will get there, but at the moment it is a no go.

Do you have a Plex license, either monthly, annual or lifetime pass? You need that to get the ability to do DVR.

Also not every LG TV supports the DVR / live TV option, it has to be:

Would suggest using another client such as a PC or Android / iOS to see if you can stream first. If you can and your TV can’t stream - but yet it can play your other media, chances are the TV is too old for the newer client (which is the case with my LG 4k TV).
