I want to know how to set up my own relay/proxy NOT how to use/not-use Plex’s own relays. This can be in the form of a proxy or any other know networking method.
My Plex server resides on a computer that sometimes goes inside a VPN. When inside a VPN it doesn’t have access to the outside world, and remote access doesn’t work (due to port forwarding inside a VPN). Plex has its own relays but they have limitations.
I want to relay/proxy ALL of my plex connections through a second computer inside my LAN. This computer will always be available to the outside world.
When the server computer goes inside a VPN, it still has normal access to my LAN. Sending all the traffic through the second computer will allow me to always have access to my Plex without interruptions and without the restrictions that Plex’s relays have.
This second device will probably be a raspberry pi, or something similar.
Before people start making suggestions. I don’t want to move my plex server to the raspberry pi. If I have a couple of concurrent users transcoding, the raspberry pi won’t be able to handle the transcoding as well/smoothly as my main server, especially when using HEVC.
Any thoughts anyone?
