setting up PLEX on VPS

I’ve been running Plex on my Synology box for a while, but it’s running out of space now. and I saw quite a few people are running Plex on VPS with google drive/amazon drive.
so I assume how it works is that the data are stored on the cloud drives, and when needed they are fetched to VPS for transcoding. so there are almost no data stored locally on the VPS right?
this seems to be a perfect solution for me, as I have gigabit connection (both up and down), and an unlimited google drive costs pretty much nothing (on eBay).

so can anyone give me a guide on how to set it up? it can be either for Synology, linux, or even Mac.

thanks in advance.

The guide that @per_PLEX_ed did worked for me. It took a little trial an error but that was a good starting point:

I also supplemented with the HTPCguides site:

If you can try and get plexdrive setup from the beginning as opposed to RClone Mount. I haven’t done that yet but the general consensus is that it is much better for using Plex with GDrive. You will have to so some researching on your own for that since neither of the links above go over plexdrive.
