SHARE or LINK

**Hello All:

So…my question is about SHARE and LINK…using share is not very secure if you share your library and the person can give others their login info and have others cheating you…whereas with link you can stop that since you have to activate each device that the person wants to use…is that correct?**

LINKing will connect the device to your own account. Which then affects your own ‘played/unplayed’ statistics. And you can’t distinguish your own playback from playbacks by sharees.

So, never link other people’s devices.
Always share with them.

Use either Tautulli or the new inbuilt playback statistics to find sharees which give out their own account data. Because sooner or later they will try to access concurrently. And you will notice this.
You can then stop sharing with this user.

Where is that setting for inbuilt playback stats and for using Tautulli, I see that it is an android app…is it for Windows as well?

You install Tautulli on your server and access it with a web browser.

The inbuilt statistics are under Activity - Dashboard.

Ok, yea I knew about the DASHBOARD…so if someone who is a share allows someone else to use their credentials, you would see this…and 2 active viewings with the same user…but how would you determine if it was a mobile device of their own, or someone else using their login info?

What I did with LINKING was create a USER PROFILE for that person and added a 4 digit pin to protect that account…and with all the other users, they are also PIN protected…so it is just like how Netflix does it to protect the viewing history and playback.,…

If you set them up with a PIN. Then it sounds like you set them up under Home vs Sharing.
