Shared server not showing?

Server Version#: CentOS 7 RPM plexmediaserver-1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59.x86_64
Player Version#: web

Just tried to set up a second Plex media server at my parents house so we (they and me) can share a HDHomeRun Prime tuner.

The Plex servers (mine with movies at my place, and their new one for the HDHR) are both signed into my account and I can see both LiveTV/DVR pages. They can see my LiveTV/DVR, Movie, and TV show shares.

They can not see the LiveTV/DVR on the server in their own network unless I add a dummy empty movie share and also share that to them.

Any idea why they can’t see LiveTV/DVR (or the server at all) in their account on Plex Home unless I share at least one other movie directory? Is this a bug?

I also wish there was a way to manage permissions on the Live TV sharing…it works fine with Plex Home members but doesn’t offer share/don’t-share on a per server basis (a plex-home person gets Live TV on all my servers, or they get no TV access on any server).

They are going to need a library anyway, in order to use the “record” feature of Plex. In fact they are going to need two, one of the type “movies” and one for “TV shows”.

At the moment they don’t have any interest in recording, just being able to watch like the slingbox could. For now I “shared” an empty folder (the machine there doesn’t have much disk space free…have to come up with more hard drives) as a workaround but it seems a very strange behavior.
