Sharing restrictions

Hi,

I don’t mind sharing my plex with friends. However, I don’t want them to share my plex with their friends, family etc with people I don’t know. My server aint that powerful. I don’t want their people to slow my server down.

So is it possible to restrict their account to just one account or one or two devices like their tv and their phone for example?

Is it possible to see how many devices are attached to their account?

Is it possible to see all IP addresses of their account access?

See GitHub - Tautulli/Tautulli-Wiki: Wiki for Tautulli

I actually would like to know if I can restrict them from sharing my account with 100s of people. That would be terrible.

However, if there was a feature where I can allow each person to have their account on lets say 5 devices I wouldn’t mind that;.

I say install Tautulli and keep the # of users unlimited to log and track your users. That way you can find the offender(if any).
I even have my Tautulli setup to log all connections immediately (default is log after 2 minutes of streaming)…

There is no devices per user limit but you can restrict how many streams are allowed per user.

I like this solution a lot. I think this will work. I will give it a try! Thanks!

Questions on how this work.

Lets say for example, I allow 3 simultaneous streams per user. And lets say my friend is using 2 streams for himself at home. He also shared his account with 10 other people. So does this mean one of his friend can stream on one of device and the other 9 friends are blocked?

Yes. It’s first come first serve. And that goes both ways. Your friend may get “blocked” if his/her friends are on.

Is this a 3rd party software? Is it trustworthy?

Thanks dane22 for recommendation.

Actually, it’s not a plugin
