Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645-ccb6eb67e
Player Version#: Sharp LC70UQ17U via DLNA
Running the server on a Synology DS1019+
I’ve seen this issue in several forum threads but so far they have been locked before a solution was presented. I have used MakeMKV to stitch files together and I have tried using ffmpeg to change them to using h.264 neither are showing up. If I move the files to the Synology Media Server the TV sees and plays the movies just fine.
I changed the advanced Network settings to allow unauth access to the local network (192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0) and that didn’t change anything.
Clearly the videos are playable on the TV and the NAS DLNA server allow the content to be seen. What is wrong in the Plex Server that can prevent the TV from seeing content?
DLNA is enabled and saved. I traverse all the DLNA menus via the TV to get to All Movies and that’s where I get “no data available”. There are currently only two movies in the entire library. The NAS memory is running ~6%. As far as I’m aware the TV doesn’t support apps outside of what came with it.
Any other ideas? I’ll try to find an small mp4 online somewhere to verify it is not the encoding causing the issue… But like I said before, they play fine using the NAS’s (non-Plex) DLNA server.
Ok, so the test file (.mp4) shows up and plays via DLNA. So there is something different in the encoding that Plex doesn’t like about the other movies. I used MakeMKV as shown on the Plex support website. The NAS non-plex server is able to deal with them, why not Plex? Does Plex not handle some kind of transcoding or something that the Synology server does? What tools are there to change the encoding to something that Plex can deal with via DLNA?
I installed a Plex client app on another PC and it is able to see / play all the movies on the Plex server so this is just something with DLNA.
