Shield Auto Passthrough Question

Hello,

When the pass-through setting in Plex on my Shield is set to automatic, and my AV receiver is off, then all audio codecs play correctly except AC3 which doesn’t play at all? In other words the audio plays fine on the tv except when I use AC3. However if i set pass-through to disabled all, audio plays correctly on the TV including AC3 when the receiver is off.

If the receiver is on all audio codecs pass-through correctly including DTS-HD and TrueHD.

Is there a reason that only AC3 wouldnt work in the example above when all other audio codecs work?

I have the my system connected as below

Shield -->Denon X2000 --> Samsung TV.

I have also tested this with Plex on a PS4 and AC3 will play on the TV when the receiver is off. I can use Audio Profile switching in Kodi with Plex for Kodi as work around to switch passthrough on and off via short cut but an automatic switch that works for AC3 in the Native Plex would be great!

Thanks for any help provided!

The same for me. Denon reciever, panasonic TV. Any ideas why is this happening and how to fix this?

What happens when you set it to always?

It’s under: Shield Settings -> Display & Sound -> Advanced Settings -> Surround Sound -> Select Always

I tried to change this settings, but with no influence :frowning: this was my first idea…

A shortcut to switch Off/On passthrough will help a lot in theese cases.
