Shield Pro DoVi not triggering on Sony TV - RESOLVED

Good day. I recently discovered that my Plex Player on Shield Pro no longer triggers DoVi on my Sony TV when I play DoVi files. So Profile 8 plays as plain HDR and Profile 5 plays with the colors all wrong (pink and lime); the Dolby Vision logo also does not appear in the top corner of the TV when playback starts. This used to work fine, but I have no idea when it stopped working. I think Profile 8 has never worked right, because I don’t recall seeing the Dolby Vision Logo appearing in the top corner on those videos, but it definitively used to appear on Profile 5 videos. Now it just does not trigger at all no matter which Profile the video uses. I tried a DoVi Bluray and that plays fine, the Dolby Vision logo appears on the TV, so it’s not the TV.

I also have no idea if I’m using the Plex Server that came with the Shield or if I’m using the Plex Player, they are both just called Plex. I did try to download the player when I first got the Shield so maybe that’s what I use, but there is a Server Settings section when I go into the player settings.

Anyone else having issues with DoVi on Shield recently?

Tried clearing cache → No change.
Tried enabling Switch Video and Refresh → No change,
Tried clearing all data → No change.

Exit out of Plex app and from the Android TV home open Settings → Display & Sound and make sure the Dolby Vision switch there is set to ON. Might toggle it off and back on again if it is.

I was seeing no DV message here when I checked just now, but it was showing OFF when I was not in playback and then it changed to ON when I checked while playing a DV film, which I didn’t think is correct. I remember it always being ON after the Shield prompts you to enable DV when it sees the TV can support it.

After changing it to ON when not in the app I can see the Dolby Vision notification of my TV again when playback starts, and there is a noticable brightness change.

I’m gonna chalk this up to a the setting getting messed up after a recent Shield software update.

Wow, NX6 you are my hero. That was it, there’s a DV setting in Shield Android and it was disabled. Now BOTH Profile 5 and Profile 8 show the Dolby Vision Logo top-right on the TV and the colors are correct. Thanks again!
