I’ve added a 4k movie yesterday to my Plex server on the shield (I have a USB 3.0 disk attached to my shield). If I wanna play this (in 4k quality) without subtitles it goes smoothly. If I choose a subtitles (srt): it keeps freezing every few seconds. If I play the movie without subtitles tautulli says the video is a direct stream and audio is transcoded (first screenshot). If I play with a subtitles the video is transcoded (screenshot 2)as well but this doesn’t go smoothly as said… Is the Plex/nVidia Shield not powerful enough to play 4k videos with subtitles?
If I play the 4k file on my Plex Client on the Samsung Smart TV I don’t have any problems playing the 4k movie with subtitles…
I only have this problem on the Shield Plex client (and also on Plex4Kodi)… anything to do about it?
