Should all contents of movie folders be copied to my DS1019+?

This is a pretty basic and possibly silly question, but being that I am a new Synology user I figure this would be the place to ask. I just finished copying all of the movie folders from my Windows 10 server to my new Synology DS1019+. I will mention that I did follow the advice of creating new shared folders in the File Station rather than using the predefined folders. Everything transferred correctly, but now I’m wondering if I should remove some of the “extra” files that are in the majority of these folders (e.g. nfo, tbn, jpg image files, etc.). Will Plex utilize these files via the NAS the same way it did via Windows 10? Obviously it would make sense that the subtitle files would need to remain, which is why I’m thinking this may all be a silly question and just me overthinking things.

As I am spending a lot of time getting the Synology up and running, I would rather spend the extra time cleaning up and removing files during the initial setup if they are not needed. Any advice is appreciated.

Many thanks and stay safe everyone!

Thanks for the quick reply! I hadn’t thought about it from the library scanning point of view, but that makes perfect sense. This will certainly extend the length of the process, but I think it will be good to clean all that up now during initial setup. So is it just the subtitle files that you would keep?

I haven’t taken advantage of the Plex support and forum sites enough, and I’ve been doing this for about 6 years now lol. This has been a great help, and that link has some great information as well.

Thanks again trumpy81 !!
