Should I install on Windows or QNAP?

Hi

I have finally got round to controlling my growing 4.5tb media collection.

Currently my media sits on a QNAP TS-569 Pro - its a few years old and only has 1gb of Ram.

I have a spare PC with 16Gb ram and Windows 2016 installed.

Can anyone recommend which I should use as my media server - both work, but Plex installed natively on my QNAP can slow the NAS down to a crawl. Is there any advantage (other than only one device switched on) to having Plex installed on the QNAP?

Thanks for your help.

Stu

Your QNAP comes with an Intel® Atom™ 2.13GHz Dual-core Processor meaning it’ll not perform well regarding transcoding

As such, I recommend running the PMS on your PC, with the medias on your QNAP

Thanks Dane.
