Should I use Desktop or Laptop

Hi guys. Pretty much a total noob to plex. Only came across it last night when attempting to find some way to stream to tv while our Nvidia shield is away getting replaced.
Im just wondering what would be the better system to run plex from.
I have two fairly decent Alienware rigs, one a laptop with i-7 processor 16gb RAM, 1TB storafe and a 250gb boot, The desktop is also i-7 , 6 core with 2Tb storage. The desktop is obviously more powerful and has the bigger storage. Our family photos etc are all backed up on the desktop too so would it make more sense to run plex fm there as the main?
Also if your watching something and the laptop goes into sleep, do u lose connection? It prob easier to have desktop set to never sleep. Cheers.

Almost in all cases using a laptop as a server is the absolute worst option possible.
There may be fringe cases where a laptop can be the better choice but I can’t think of a single one personally

Yes.

Maybe - but it’s a HECK of a lot easier to perform regular maintenance - the dust bunny removal program - on a Desktop than it is a Laptop. I can see what I blow out of my nose every day - and I’m pretty sure those ‘blowers’ are moving more (of the same dirty) air through my box than my lungs are moving through me.
