Show names for audio tracks and subtitles [in all apps]

You know, Kodi at least sucks in that it isn’t compliant with MKV track rules. But not even showing track names for five straight years is just perplexingly dumb.

@Jezrick Look at how many people in this topic have a Plex Pass. They don’t care.

Would also like to see the same subtitle selection persist throughout the season.

i.e. if I selected “Fan Sub” on episode 1, going to the next episode should keep that same selection.

Would also really love to see this feature added. Would make picking subtitles muchhh easier

How do I “upvote” this? It’s crazy that it’s not yet available…

wow amazing so many time and still not there ?

Really disappointed that this still isn’t included. The data is already there for Plex to read and it doesn’t seem like a big change but it would be incredibly useful.

I’ve also used MKVtoolnix for years and had no idea you could edit some things with “header editor” rather than remuxing a whole file, so thank you very much for passing that along :slight_smile:

Nothing changed since 2014 ?
How it can be ?

That is ■■■■■■■ annoying !

I can not choose any audio track without the real title.

Some people manage to change the source code
like

n.title||n.displayTitle||n.language;
or
something like
n=e.title?e.title+' - '+e.displayTitle:e.displayTitle

But it do not work for TV app
I paid for a product
i did not know that this so simple feature should wait five ■■■■■■■ years.

I would VERY much like to see ANY sort of code update that would allow me to differentiate between different audio tracks… Whether it’s reading metadata from the file, or even a way to manually comment. Anything is better than blindly picking. I usually rip every English track, as well as the “native” track if it’s a foreign film or show. So if I happen to have a file that has multiple commentary tracks or an isolated score or something, I currently have to switch between each one randomly until I happen upon the one I want to hear… Rather frustrating at times.
(And the same thing with subtitles.)

Really? Seeing that is requested since 2014 makes me mad. It’s a shame. -_-

More than 5 years old and still no outcome… Can’t believe that !
‘Name’ information are in the header of video files, just as the ‘language’ param (which is read and displayed)…
Hey you people, VOTE for this thread, maybe could help to move forward !?

Just ripped some Blu-Rays and choosing the correct subtitles for each language/the correct audio track for commentary is a pain. Would be nice for some movement on this feature.

It looks like the Title and Display Title are swapped in the media info panel. Title contains the customized track names and Display Title contains the default track titles. Hope this helps. Seems like this has been a real stumper.

This is now a feature in my custom client, Plex-MPV-Shim. You can access an option from the menu and it will show the full names of audio and video tracks.

It’s been five years in requesting this, plex, and it’s becoming easier for idiots like me to be able to rename the tracks to something we want. Handbrake has even fixed this in their software so when you convert files, names come over.

When can we expect this to be implemented?

Add another vote from a Plex Pass user that desperately wants to be able to see the title of my alternate audio tracks that I’ve ripped and labeled.

I made a User Script for Plex Web and tweak for Plex Media Player that implements this. Please see: Show Subtitle/Audio Names for Plex

Another vote, and another request for this. Plex can see the names of subtitles in an MKV via Get Info, but doesn’t list them in the selection dialog in either the web interface or on Windows.
