Seems to be a better at it. Lots more shows now, where before it was more “movies”.
Does this work from XML file as well? As I’ve just looked for a show thats on every day at the moment, and gracenote doesn’t seem to have it.

Sorry my post only applies to the issue where the path was being rejected
For your original issue which is that TV Series end up identified as movies, only have the specific feedback to you from @chrisallen in these posts

Btw, using XMLTV as a source, the show identification is still pretty bad.
But the advantage is that it has everything, where gracenote seems to miss things. Here is the masterchef entry that the xmltv loads…it’s loaded as a movie.

I believe you need to follow the advice given by chrisallen here

Here are some of my findings when Plex constantly misidentifies “Ellen” as a movie and also a TV show called Getaway (Here is its correct tvdb link Getaway - TheTVDB.com) as Getaway the movie. Note this is on the latest Plex Pass version of PMS.
Here is the recorded program after Plex has “Optimised it for TV”. It seems something goes screwy after optimisation and it creates two entries for the same episode
And here is the Media Info for that affected episode:
Now here is the SAME episode again correctly identified under TV as well!
And here is the Media Info for that particularly correctly identified one, also correctly showing the Optimised file being under the same item as it should:
I too am having problems with gracenote misidentifying shows ans movies. Namely Jeopardy! and wheel of fortune on Prime in NZ. I found some success using http://www.matthuisman.nz/2016/10/freeview-nz-xmltv-epg.html as my epg file however Gracenote overrides that with old movies it thinks are the TV shows I want to record the whole series. Very frustrating.
The newest version of server has still not fixed this.
I found the cause for this.
I can’t recall exactly where, but I had set the wrong saving location for those particular shows so it was triggering the Movie agent to identify it instead of the TVDB agent.
Once I’ve corrected that the issue went away.
I wish I could figure this out. I have tried to change the location to save the DVR recording, but for Wheel Of Fortune for example, it sees it as a movie and will only let me choose Movie or Other Video library in PMS. I would love it if you could help me ‘change’ the setting. I have deleted the DVR and set up again. No mention of where it gets stored.
What EPG xml file are you using?
Most of the content from the EPG program guide is correct i.e. TVNZ sees shows as shows with episode numbers but as someone above mentioned NZ has a incomplete and sometimes wrong EPG data. I would like to record a whole series of items that only appear to be a movie. Annoying
The best results - if your show is actually there, is from the default epg - and not a supplied xmltv file. Until the xmltv file can be updated with the details needed to identify as a show. Maybe the epgcollector program needs to be petitioned for a change.

Sorry I’m trying to remember exactly where the issue was but I’ve had SOOOO many issues with Plex DVR and all the troubleshooting I’ve done is now jumbled in my head. HOWEVER I think the issue was that my “movies” library was pointing to a location in which the subdirectory was where my DVR recordings were going.
So right click your movies folder and check that ONLY the folder containing your movies and NOT anything else is accessible as the movie agent will search everything in that folder level and deeper.
