Signing in to Plex using Admin credentials on iPhone/iPad differs from other players

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349-8f4248874

When signing in to Plex using Admin credentials on iPhone/iPad, user is taken directly to Admin profile, no PIN needed.

On the Android app, the macOS app, the Windows app, and the web interface, all present a user list upon signing in, and you must use a PIN to access the Admin profile.

Is there a reason that the iPhone and iPad apps behave the differently than all the other apps when signing in with Admin credentials?

Thanks.

All clients used to be like Apple a long while ago. They are slowly changing to be the new way. I’m not sure if there is some technical hurdle for the Apple team on this but I will poke them about it.

Thanks

Thanks. When I brought this up on the Plex subreddit 5 months ago, the only response I received (from a Tautulli developer) was “Don’t give out your email and password to people. Anyone you share with that has their own device should have their own Plex account.”

I only share the admin credentials with family, but I still don’t want them to get automatically logged in to the admin profile, to then have to tell them to switch users…

Why not just have them make their own account?

Sooo… I point out a flaw in the Plex software, and you respond by asking me adapt to the flaw? Not to mention the adaptation you’re asking me to make would result in their losing all their viewing history.

I didn’t ask or tell you to do anything. I was simply curious why, so I asked why

“I am concerned about them viewing play history since they already have had managed accounts for so long” is a perfectly reasonable answer. That I can now bring to folks who make decisions about things and express another reason why it is important.
