BUG: upon sign in, iOS app lands on Admin user profile home screen without entering PIN

Server Version#: 1.66.1.3632-4d9c7716
Player Version#: 8.17

Steps to replicate:

  • Make sure Admin user requires PIN
  • Sign Out of app (if logged in)
  • Sign in using credentials of Plex server owner
  • Next screen is “Searching for sources”
  • Next screen is “Customize your navigation”
  • Click “Continue”
  • Next screen is Home screen for Admin user (no PIN required)

When I use the macOS app or a web browser, after signing in I am presented with a user profile list, and if I click/tap on the Admin profile, a PIN is required (this is the behavior I expected on the iOS app).

Also, in the iOS app, if I go to Settings > Account, while in the Admin profile, the “Automatically Sign In” preference is not enabled.

Edit: I just want to emphasize that this behavior does not happen when signing in via web browser, the macOS app, the Android app, or the Windows app. With those apps, upon signing in, the user is immediately presented with the user profile list.

Yes, this is normal. Because knowing the user name and the password is the same as being admin.
If you want to secure your server and your plex account from other users in your Plex Home, do the signing-in of new devices for them yourself.
Then activate “Automatic Logon”, then “Switch User”, and then hand the device over to them.

Hi. This behavior does not happen when a user signs in:

  • via a web browser
  • via the macOS app
  • via the Android app
  • via the Windows app

When a user signs in to Plex with Plex server owner credentials via any of the above methods, they are immediately presented a user profile list.

If you want to secure your server and your plex account from other users in your Plex Home…

On the iOS app, all this does is prevent the user list from being shown upon returning to the app after having navigated away from it (the app instead automatically returns to the user profile that was most recently used) – which is useful, but the iOS app should still behave as the web client and other apps listed above behave when signing in.

So even though the Android app, the macOS app, the Windows app, and the web interface all present a user list upon signing in, but the iOS app skips the user list, you are not going to acknowledge that this is a bug?
