Who (what) is “The Butler” ?

While I understand that all the tasks listed on the linked page are tasks performed by “the Plex Butler” at no place on that page does the word “Butler” appear and therefore referring to the “Butler” without specifying exactly what is meant would be confusing to many people. In fact I do not remember seeing the word “Butler” in any Plex documentation. (It could be there, somewhere, as I do not have all the docs committed to memory and many are in flux all the time.
I have seen Plex throw up messages referring to “The Butler” without enough info for anyone not in the know to have any real idea about what is meant.
I have been around long enough that the messages do not confuse me (more than I am always confused) but newer users could use better messages that actually say what is happening or has gone wrong or a good solid definition of “The Butler.”
