simonjhogan's PLEX Client for LG Smart TV (webOS)

Question.  I've purchased and installed this app on one of my LG Smart TVs and so far it looks great.  A coupld of questions.  If I want to use it on another of my LG TVs do I have to purchase it again or is there a way to install without purchasing it again?

Also, when you update the application, will they be automatically updated on the TV?

Hello, I have had two separate reports of people purchasing the app from the smart world store and then having the download fail. When the attempt to run the app from within the smart world store it requests their purchase it again. Both users have contacted LG support only to be told to contact me! I don’t run the LG store and have no control over how it works, so this is not helpful to me or to them. Can you please investigate this issue … one of the users details are as below: … United Kingdom I believe both users on the webOS platform. You immediate investigation into the issue is appreciated. Got this app on the LG app store.  Streaming is amazing and was very easy to setup.  Only issue I have found is that if the movie has subtitles and you try to disable it, it doesnt disable.  Have tried just about everything to get it to not display the subs... still no luck.  Other than that its a great app!

I have now installed the app through the UK account without any problems. Works great! 

First of all, thanks Simon for this app, it's awesome. 

I've purchased the version for my SmartTv and have a couple of questions. Also, I would like to help you with the development of the app.. don't know so much about SmartTv apps development, but I have experience with web apps. 

My first question is about subtitles: is there a way to search for another subtitle within the app?

Second question is about development: I've downloaded the code in the git repo but I'm not capable of have this code working in the WebOS emulator. The app works, but the videos don't work... it says that there is a missing plugin. If you can give me some clues to solve that, I can help you with some code ;).

First I want to say thank you for the great job.

my issue is with the Turkish Subtitles. I recently bought LG 65 UB950V-ZB. subtitles fetched by plex server works fine if They are english. But Turkish subs can not be viewed. The subs apperar but if there is a Turksh character in a word, the sub cuts after the turkish character. 

The app works just fine with my old LD Smart TV but with this new TV, subtitle  customization do not work. And Turkish subs cannot be viewed unless they are saved as UTF-8 but  ANSII saved Turkish subs  have problem.

Can this issue be solved?

From what I've read some of these issues are outwith your control but since your app cannot deliver on the basic features I'm looking for a refund. It still appears very very buggy, I won't come back to it until these issues are resolved.

The point is that WE the people that have webos tv’s to contact lg for this problem, its not hogans fault and if you put a mkv in tv with a disk or stick the problem is same, the more we yell the faster the fix will be.

First of all, congrats to simon for this amazing job!!

I have a problem with running the app on webos. I succesfully uploaded the .ipk file to lg developer site and downloaded the DRM test app. As explained in the guide, i formatted the usb as FAT and create folder path developer/apps/usr/palm/applications. Then located the downloaded DRM and ucompress under this folder path.

I plugged the usb in into my LG webos TV but nothing happened.

just the smartshare icon popped up.

any help would be appriciated!!

TV has update to 4.00.34 but still don't play videos. The problem wasn't fixed!

I have no problem with paid version ;)

I live in Belgium without premium store, i change the land into the settings (i choose France) and i have access to paid apps.

For my fellow Brazilian friends who lived in this Topic, you can buy the PlayZ app from LG Store Chile. Its very simple and works very well (4k vids on LAN).
 
Steps:
Create an LG Store Chile Account.
Change your Region to Chile at TV Menu.
Log on LG Chile Account, enter LG Store and buy it ($4,99).
Change back your region to Brazil and enjoy the app.
 
Save your Chile Account for futures updates on the app.

Hi,

I manged to install App from the LG store when I changed location to UK (opened UK store account) but my PlayZ is not finding Plex server on the network.

It's on the same subnet, I even configured static IP address for my TV - no go.

I tried inputing correct IP address of PMS - no go.

All other Plex clients connect to it without a hitch - Samsung TV, two android devices, PC client app.

How can I debug the problem? Can I collect some logs from PlayZ? Do I need to use Wireshark to collect some packets for the debug? What should I do?

I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, changing location on TV - nothing works. PlayZ can't find my PMS :(

P.S. TV is 42LB730 WebOS

@Simon If the app that is bought on store works fine (as far some buddies are saying), the problem shouldn’t be at the app/code in github?

Not really, I tried with the version I use on my 2013 model (waaaaaaay older than the current, a few versions before Simon even put it on GitHub) and it didn't work either.

Maybe it's the test DRM breaking the code.
