simonjhogan's PLEX Client for LG Smart TV

I'm sure simon will get everything worked out in time.
He hasn't been working on this client very long really and this type of thing takes time to get all the kinks and bugs out.

If you ask me he has accomplished a lot so far for the amount of hours he has put into it.
We must remember he said himself his time is limited due to family and life itself, he is not working on this around-the-clock.

I'm sure in the end everything will be just the way he wants it.. All good :)

Cheers!

Thanks ... I am taking the next few days off to enjoy what's left of my holidays :-)

thank you for new wersion

maybe it would be good when we are reporting bugs also write a version where bug was founded

anyway enjoy rest of holidays :)  and happy new year

A quick look at the samsung web api and it appears to be somewhat different from LGs ... i.e a fairly major rewrite of code to get functioning on LG ... I only had a quick look though so could be wrong ...

New release at http://plex.h3consulting.net ... new media player and basic subtitle support ...

Hi Simon,

This is great!

I will stop at his place today and try your app there.

I hope it will at least find the server. This didn't succeed last time I tried it, nor did the other non-LG apps.

I will give feedback later. Also on 3D-support.

He also has to run PMS on windows-XP if he wants to use medialink. If he runs it on the same system with Windows 8 (dual-boot) it will not find the server 9 times out of 10. I tried all the different suggestions that were given on this topic, but never found a way to reliably get that working. Strange, because at that same time I am able to run media from his Plex server from a different location using myplex.

I have a feeling your App is already at a stage that is surpasses medialink on every level.

Looking forward to test it in a few hours.....

Love the new fixes.

I see the home menu now shows the actual tv show posters.. awesome to see that fixed!!

Just need the episode preview thumb ratio fixed now and its PERFECT! ;)

Thanks again for the update, enjoy your time off.

Cheers!

3d most likely won’t work just yet as. I haven’t built in options to select it …the integrated media player requires all the ui and options to be manually created, which I am still working on.

3D movies work just fine, the client has nothing to do with wether they work. 3D is activated by the TV, not the client.

But if you are refering to subs with 3D, i have not tested that yet but again that should not matter. Should work!

ok, just tested... subs with 3D movies work as they should ;)

Awesome good the know … Thanks

Confirmed Working.

Thanks for the good work Simon. +1 for Aussies

Working Configuration:

TV Model: LG 65LM6200 (2012 Model)

PLEX Client for LG Smart TV Build: 0.6.0.0 (on USB/Fat32/500Mb)

PLEX Media Server: Virtual Machine CentOS 0.9.8.10

LG Remote TV - IOSApp

Harmony Remote - Plex App Macro still not bound

0.6.0.0 rectified issue of MKV playback that was present in 0.5.0.3.

Subtitles working. I like the new player controller. - Excellent

Note: Plex Client for LG Smart TV About still shows as 5.0.2

There is no seek ahead or back function in this new version, but you may already know this simon?

Sorry bro, just read the Version description again.

New integrated video player with custom skin - not all functions working so please don’t raise bugs, this is an early preview.

You can delete my bug report please

give us channel support!

I tested the app just now and can confirm it works with subtitles properly in place with 3D movies.

As said by Simon there’s no support for the selection of subtitles.

It also worked when Plex was ruining on Windows 8. In that state the Medialink could not connect. This app did

give us channel support!

Besides refining I would rather have myplex as the next big thing.

Just briefly tested 0.6.0.0 version on a LG 42LN613V I picked up in the sales, seems to work well!

£399 for a 42" Smart TV for the bedroom was a steal, especially one that works with Plex without having to have 3rd party boxes hanging off it :-)

please people read changelog here before you post new bug/enhancement http://plex.h3consulting.net/downloads.html

also please read http://plex.h3consulting.net/issues/index.php if bug/enhancement were reported ... you will save Simons time (he should use saved time for some features)

anyway one question for SImon is your code somewhere in git or SVN? I have some free time and i think i could help you with some small fixies

Had some free time this evening so new release available at http://plex.h3consulting.net ... mainly feature additions to the new player and an ability to set the clock to 24 hour time

cheers,

Simon

So rewind is not possible in the LG player (just slow motion or speed up/fast forward) ... I am thinking of just seeking back a certain amount of time when the rewind button is pressed ... thoughts?

I have answered this previously ... an older version is on PLEX, but not this one ... I want to get it to a level I am happy with before I release it to GIT etc ...

thanks for the offer though ..
