Alright there is a simple issue view on the site now http://plex.h3consulting.net ... use it to lodge bugs and request features ... I'll still be checking this forum, but I would like to keep requests/bugs stored somewhere other than scattered thru the forum ...
I recorded a video of the app's behaviour, took screenshots of my TV config, and then started hacking around with the index.js file and plex.js file as referenced by robis in post 174. Whilst I was hacking around the "Press OK to RESET settings..." dialogue box was left on the screen, screensavering around for a couple of minutes. I clicked OK and boom - the initial settings screen was displayed and I could correct my PMS settings (I'd omitted the :32400 - as I expect 80% of first time users will do).
So... all good, I'm in again. But the press red to reset feature definitely needs some work - or at least the attempting to load with incorrect PMS settings needs a timer added so that folks don't get stuck with a blank screen.
In general use the app is great. I'm finding it won't play (doesn't even attempt) a number of my movie files that I know MediaLink on my 2012 LG TV plays fine. Haven't worked out what the common factor is (it'll be an encoding type, I'm sure)... but again, it would be great if the app didn't just fail to respond but gave some error about not supporting the file type - or even attempted to play it then bomb back to the menu. Initially I thought the OK wasn't working - until I tried some alternate films that played fine.
Thanks for all your work Simon - keep the updates a'comin. ;)

Hi Shambiko,
As Robis says, you've most likely just inserted your IP address without the port (i.e. without :32400). The app *should* let you reset it by pressing the RED button and then selecting OK.
However, on my TV this doesn't work. If you're comfortable editing the code of the app then follow Robis' instructions.
Alternatively, I found that if I pressed RED, then waited about 5-6 minutes before hitting OK, then that reset the app and allowed me to enter my server settings (e.g. 192.168.1.4:32400)
On another note, I have to wonder if all this work is strictly necessary. We have Simon working on this app, Nickbabenko on another version and possibly others. However, HD1080 and Orca developed an app for Samsung (starting in 2011) that works really well and has all the features we're looking for. I can't help thinking that teaming up with them would be a smarter use of everyone's time in producing a good working client for LG. Otherwise I can see this consuming an *awful* lot of time to get right.

I saw that Samsung app and was impressed to see Plex Home Theater run natively on the TV. Especially because in some aspects it was more advanced than their Android/iOS client. It not even supports myPlex, but it also uses the pin-code to subscribe. It's something I need for my purpose.
I think it takes some months before we get myplex on LG.
My own TV is not "smart", but I have a full-blown Haswell powered system attached to my plasma and run Plex or XBMC.
If I had to buy a smart TV now, I would definitely choose a Samsung.
These developers can only get together if they choose themselves to. There are also advantages if they develop each on their own and merge later.
I would like to stop at my friend's place today, but it isn't clear to me if the latest changes (subtitles & transcoding) is already commited to github? Anyone knows this?

The initial screen will timeout eventually (it seems to take ages for some reason) ... not sure why the RED button isn't working for some, it works fine on my setup. Anyway have made some changes to prevent this kind of issue from continuing to happen ... i hope.

The new release has not been put on github .. right now I went to get things to a level I am happy with before I open it up to everyone ...

A quick look at the samsung web api and it appears to be somewhat different from LGs ... i.e a fairly major rewrite of code to get functioning on LG ... I only had a quick look though so could be wrong ...
