Can I use Plex to relay streaming media from my computer or4 Android device to my Roku in real-time? For example, I like to watch the Canadian Broadcasting Company, which is geo-fenced. I use a VPN to spoof my location and that works well enough. But I’d like to be able to have it on my tv so my wife and I can both watch from our recliners.
You can play media that is managed within Plex on a Plex client connected to your server. This goes for…
- media that is stored on your own Plex Media Server
- media from a friend’s Plex Media Server who’s sharing content with you
- media from Plex online media sources (e.g. podcasts, news, web shows, the new video on demand service)

With a Plex Pass and a supported tuner, you can also store/record or stream over-the-air TV to your Plex clients.

Plex used to support “plugins” which could link all kind of online media. Those have been discontinued and phased out in 2018/2019. So Plex itself won’t be of much help to re-route live streams of tv stations (geo-fenced or not).
PS: consider that spoofing your location and accessing geo-fenced content (geo-dodging) is at best in a legal gray area… therefore (in light of the forum guidelines), please refrain from promoting or discussing it on this forum. Thank you!
