Since updating to 1.9.6.4385 yesterday (Windows), DVR recording and Live TV fails. (HDHomeRun tuner)
Have restarted all devices and the server.
Have not yet rolled back or uninstalled/reinstalled. Have not had issues prior to this.
Anyone else seeing similar?
Yeah I have the same issue. All devices are the same, play audio but no video. It’s getting increasingly difficult to persuade my gf that plex live TV is a good idea. It was working perfectly before the update but since then, nothing.
I just rolled back to 1.9.4.4325 and everything has started working properly again. I will probably skip 1.9.6.4385 and go straight to the next one.
(I was running Windows Server 2016 and a haupage quad HD tuner btw)
Same exact issue here except I have one channel it wont start at all. 1.9.6. is a big failure and it seems to be related to the “fix” for transcoder failing when plex doesnt think their is a video stream.
rolled back to 1.9.5.4339 and dvr can actually tune and record channels again
How do I roll back Plex?
UPDATE: Figured it out.
Rolling back to 1.9.5.4339 also resolved it for me, though not thrilled about it.
Would anyone have server logs of when the problem arose on 1.9.6 ?

Yes. See attached.
Updated yesterday. 100% failed recordings for yesterday evening.
Rolled back to previous version, seems to be working again.

Well that doesn’t help you then does it… Let me see what I can grab.
Ok, so with my rollback and a restart I guess I lost any logs that will be useful to you. Will need to come from someone else.
Logs are attached. Rollback was after 6:20 PM CDT, so logs previous to that should all be from 1.9.6

Thank you. Better than nothing - but Debug Logging was and is disabled !
See https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201643703-Reporting-issues-with-Plex-Media-Server
I can see errors but without debug logging cannot say which error is related to the problem
Have you been changing library paths for recording ? - Does E:\Recorded TV\
exist?

I didn’t collect debug logging as I was trying to correct quickly before the nightly recordings started. I can probably update and collect debug logs while reproducing Saturday if needed (nothing scheduled for that day).
Files were not deleted manually, or by the script. I ended up getting multiple 0kb entries of the show in the output directory, but when I checked .grab it was always empty. Before updating, and after rolling back I haven’t seen the issue or that message ( “seems to have deleted the file. Silly script.” ).
I do notice in the log for some reason there is a space in “Recorded TV” where on the drive there is no space.

Will have to wait for debug logging to be enabled

May be you renamed the directory name from Recorded TV
to RecordedTV
and it is still referencing the old path. May need to delete all the scheduled recordings that went there and recreate with the new library path.
Folder has not been renamed since the server was built 9 months ago.
Script also has not changed since shortly after that time.
Only changes have been Windows Updates and Plex updates.
I noticed that when a recording failed, under the GRAB folder the folder in which the file was being written to would disappear, then if I started another recording it would reappear along with the new folder, and then they would both disappear, etc. etc.
If you just start recording and go watch, you will see it happen in the GRAB folder.
I had the same problem and I tried to fix by entirely deleting and reinstalling Plex server and the problem, still persists: recording “completes”immediately after starting, empty file created, transcoder error. Since I did a complete reinstall (current version… .4385) I cannot roll back. Does anyone know a safe link to install the previous version?
I have two servers running, one on MacOS and one on Windows 10. The Mac works file with ver …4385, but not Windows.
I am having this issue. Can anyone tell me or link me on how to rollback to a previous version?
