Hi Guys,
I’m currently in the process of adding media to my TV Series Library. Plex does not seem to like most of my Documentaries. It only added a few from a directory containing 35 documentaries. I am guessing that it’s because of the Agent that is being used. The ones that were added were actual limited series like The Last Dance (MJ), Undertaker The Last Ride, The Lost Pirate Kingdom, and some Steven Hawking Series. The others get ignored. They are single episode documentaries. I moved them from my movies group to my TV Series group because I felt they belonged with the TV Series and not the Movies. I think I see what’s happening and why I’m just not sure how to tweak the settings to fix it. Any suggestions you may have are welcome.
To be added to a TV library files need the S01E01 notation. Keep in mind that TV libraries can only match things classified as TV series from the online sources we I get metadata so likely will not be able to get metadata for them and you will need to enter the metadata manually.
I have a documentaries library (movies) and a docuseries library (tv shows)
As BigWheel mentioned this is decided by the online agents like TVDB and TMDB where Plex pulls info from
I would not be willing to input all that metadata manually for every new item I add
If you want to combine items across library types most people just use collections

As an example, you could make a collection named “Sports” in both the tv and movie library and those items would all be combined in your sports collection
You can mix and match it however you want. The result would be something like this
Thanks for your suggestion. Yes I figured it was something to do with the naming of the files. I think I will use your method and separate the two types. I’m also going to see if I can get Filebot to help me fix the problem. But in the end I think I will use your method. I’m just about “Filebotted” Out. I used it to rename nearly ALL my files before stating this part of the process. My Media Drive is 10 TB with less than 2 TB free, so it took a minute. Thanks for the help.
