Plex won't add a tv show (doc)

Trying to add a single episode television doc to my server. Have literally a hundred of them on there already. Suddenly this one won’t stick. When I hit scan library files…it opens up a slot for it (an empty box appears), and then it disappears. It’s “Schama on Rembrandt Masterpieces of the Late Years” and I put it in a folder with one episode in it as I always do:

TV Docs (which is the name of the library)>Schama on Rembrandt Masterpieces of the Late Years>S01E01.mp4

Nothing. Any ideas? It is a playable file and it is a show that exists on TVDB. Thanks!

It sounds like it might have matched it to something else if the box appeared then disappeared.

But, you do not have it named to Plex guidelines,
yes I know your other ones worked… but this is what happens if you don’t follow the guidelines, it will work… til it does not… like now.

I would suggest you try naming it like this:

TV Docs 
-- Schama on Rembrandt Masterpieces of the Late Years 
---- Season 01 
------ Schama on Rembrandt Masterpieces of the Late Years - s01e01.mp4

or

TV Docs 
-- Schama on Rembrandt- Masterpieces of the Late Years 
---- Season 01 
------ Schama on Rembrandt- Masterpieces of the Late Years - s01e01.mp4

This one is not listed as a TV show at TMDB. So I suggest adding it into a movie library instead.

Not everything which runs on TV is a ‘TV Show’ in Plex.
TV Shows in Plex are characterised by their ‘serial’ nature.

There is also a record on TheTVDB for this, but it is filed incorrectly and is missing a poster.

ah, ok, that was the one I saw, did not realise it was filed incorrectly.

It is missing a description text in english. However a description text in english is filed as dutch translation…

fwiw, although not really very helpful… but you might find that it has matched it in your TV library as episode 1 of Simon Schama’s Power of Art

You’re a genius! It was in “Power Of Art”, which I own, as a special! Thanks! Of course that’s not where it should be, but I’ll take it!

DOH! The problem is there is already a special there, so it thinks it’s a duplicate. So, not the best solution to leave it there.

You could try spit apart on the top level of the show and then you could manually modify the Rembrant one.

But be careful, as you may lose that if you were to do a full library refresh

I’m not going to battle it. I just changed it to Season 02>S02E01. I’ll manually fill in info and use the show’s poster for the season 2 poster. Thanks for your help!
