Single Shared Items - Android

Server Version#: 1.23.3.4707
Player Version#: latest

Ive built and shared some playlists that are viewable on every device except devices running Android. Known bug that I missed? Seems to have been around for a while. What ever library you view last is what shows up in the Shared menu. Latest versions of Plex Server and Amazon Fire 2020 Stick. Latest version of Plex for Android on stick.

I’ve confirmed this is happening to all of my users running mostly Amazon Fire Sticks (4k and 2020 versions).

If anyone else can confirm this, that would be great. At least we know its a bug.

Can confirm this is happening for my and my users as well.
I have shared playlist of the Chronological order for Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) that I had shared with my buddy and it stopped working a while back (but as that was the first shared playlist, I didn’t connect it to being an Android issue). He asked me to see if others were experiencing the issue as well since he wanted his wife to be able to watch it in the proper order and I just confirmed today that it’s not working.

Another thing I noticed is that, at least on the Android app (that’s my my app as I have a Shield TV Pro so I don’t tend to check other apps), is that I could not see the Shared library for a shared account until I went to the Web app and pinned that library to the menu. After I did that and went back to the Android app (I believe I might have had to close it out completely but don’t recall), the Shared library was then available, but like @gray5kull said, it shows the media for the last library that was selected.

@tom80H or @ChuckPa, can you provide any help on this topic or bring it to the attention of someone on the Android dev team?

Thanks,
Shark2k

Ok good. Someone else is finally seeing this. Yeah im using it for the same thing. Marvel, Arrowverse etc. Its funny, i had my users buy 4k or 2020 Amazon fire sticks because they direct play almost everything and I also got them excited to watch Marvel media in chron order. So they can play media good but not see the lists. Id rather see direct plays.

As it’s been a couple of days, going to try and ping @BigWheel and see if maybe they will be able to get the right person to look at this. Might not be the biggest issue out there (like @gray5kull said, seeing direct plays was a higher priority for them) but as it used to work and I would think should still work, would be nice to have it looked at and known that the devs are at least aware.

yeah very low priority. Cool feature for the other devices that can see them. I noticed on some Plex UIs that it will show the details about the show or movie and others seem to just show them as playlists. When you are in the shared folder and click on a playlist. My LG shows the details, where as the Windows 10 client shows just a playlist with a screenshot. But yeah, very very low priority.

Are other single item shared things showing? like if you only share a single movie does it show up or just not playlists?

Hey BigWheel, thanks for responding.

I feel like I may be being a tad dense in regards to your question, so sorry in advanced, however let me tell you what I did to try and answer your question.

I have an account that I use for my shore house as it is a communal TV and I don’t want to deal with people having to sign in to their accounts, so I’m using this for testing as well. I shared all my active libraries with this account, but based on your question I stopped sharing one less used library. After I did that, I then shared a single media item from that library (it’s a personal library, hopefully that shouldn’t matter) but I am not seeing that item even on the web app.

I just signed into that account on my Shield TV and confirmed that I am still not seeing anything when I go to the “Shared Library” that is pinned. As @gray5kull mentioned in their first post, when you go to the “Shared Library” in the Android App, it will show you whatever library you were on last. Nothing actually shows up when you go there.

Let me know if that is clear or if there is something else you want done.
As of now, I would say that the “Shared Library” (and I’ve been putting it like that because the name is Shared and to me it looks like it would act similar to a library but might not actually be considered a library by Plex) on the Android app, doesn’t appear to be working properly.

thanks. You both mentioned playlists so just wanted to see if that is all what was missing. I understand now that you mean the “Shared” source as a whole is not working when focused and just showing whatever library/source you were previously on

I am also having the issue where the shared source just shows whatever source I was previously on. I am trying to share individual / single item shares to it. Only seems to be a problem on TVs. It’s a problem on a Fire TV. It’s a problem on both my new 4k firesticks. It’s a problem on my Nvidia Shield (which is the host of the server). It’s not a problem on my PC. It’s not a problem on my Samsung S10+. It’s not a problem on any of the Amazon Fire tablets. It seems to only be a TV issue.
