I have shared playlists with a user and they are visible in the “Shared” tab within Plex Web but I can’t even find the Shared tab on my Android TV NVIDIA Shield. How do I share playlists with a Plex using running on a Shield?
You’re sharing with a user… if they can see it in Plex Web they should also be able to see the shared playlists (or other individual items) in their other clients. If they cannot see it right away, it’s always a good starting point to check out the More section in the sidebar.
Yes. Same account can see it fine on Plex Web but no sign of even a Shared option on Android TV.
Given the Android TV can see all the shared libraries but there’s no Shared tab, there’s something odd going on. Where should the Shared tab be found on NVIDIA Shield?
The Shared tab refers to an entry in the sidebar menu where your library names are listed (same as the generic Playlists menu). If it’s not pinned to the main sidebar, you might find it under the More entry (from where you can pin it so it’ll show up on the default view.
Once somebody is sharing individual items (e.g. a single movie, a single playlist…), that menu should be available to access those.
I would suggest going to the devices settings and clearing the cache for the Plex app. For the past 3 years, I regularly have the android app get into a bad state with no apparent way to fix things within the app. Often, clearing the cache will “fix” things.
I don’t understand. I have logged out of Plex on the NVIDIA Shield and cleared Cache. When I log in I have all the libraries shared from my Plex server in the sidebar but no “Shared”.
If I go to the bottom as choose “More +” I have two options: “Plex” and “Server”.
Under Plex I have Music, Podcasts and Web Shows.
Under Server I have all the libraries again but no “Shared” option.
Conversely, under Plex Web I have Shared immediately showing fine on the sidebar.
