Skipping to next Episode automatically mid episode

Recently I have been running in to issues with the Plex client running on Windows 10. While watching any season of The Office for example, occasionally and randomly the episode will automatically jump to the post play screen while in the middle of the episode, as if Plex thought the episode was over. There is no rhyme or reason for it, and it can happen on any show, though if there is only one episode it will go to the episode detail screen instead of the post play screen. It has happened at 30 seconds in to a show all the way up to the end of the show, I’ve found no pattern for it, and can’t duplicate it manually. I have done several Google and Plex Forum searches but can’t seem to find any other user experiencing the same thing. I’ve uninstalled the client from multiple PC’s and reinstalled, as well as updating Plex Media Server. So far it seems to be limited to the Windows Plex Client. Is anyone noticing something similar? Or have any suggestions on what I might be able to try?

I have same issue. PMS is running on Ubuntu Server with the media stored on Netgear ReayNAS. The media is being played through a Nvidia Shield TV and the files are direct playing.

I’ve tried everything with the Plex app for Windows. My workaround for the time being was to install and use “Plex Media Player.” It has been working without any episode skipping, but the interface isn’t as user-friendly as the Plex app.

Hey guys,
I’ve been experiencing the same issue with the android mobile application on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
No rhyme or reason, will skip to the next episode in a series as if my TV show had ended.
Please let me know if anyone finds out a fix or something that I need to tweak to get this to work properly.
Also to add - no transcoding, direct play on my internal network.
Thanks.

This happens to me recently as well. I just moved my plex server from windows over to Linux Mint 18.3 and it started happening after i moved to linux. Seems like everyone here is also running on Ubuntu? Any updates on a fix for this?

I have always experienced this with both my Windows 10 PMS and now that I have moved over to my ASUSTOR NAS PMS it seems to be more frequent. With my old PMS, it was every once in a while. Now with my new PMS it happens nearly every episode or two.

I run updates on the PMS every Friday, in hopes this gets fixed. Has there been any updates or progress on investigating this?

Just started happening to me this week, any updates on the fixes?
