In the past couple of weeks we have noticed that we can be watching TV in Plex and no matter what show or what device we use to stream the show we are experiencing the same problem.
Example of the problem is we can be watching Greys S03E04 and when E04 is over instead of plex playing E05 next it is skipped and E06 will be played next.
This is happening on all TV show’s and all devices… It is also random meaning that it may not do it immediately and all of a sudden it will start.
I am currectly running PMS on 3 different servers and it is doind it from any of the 3. I also stream my contact on the following devices and it is happening on all of them. Chromecast Ultra, PS4, Roku, Plex Media Center on a Home media server, Webclient in IE and Chrome, ipad, and iphones.
I can duplicate this on all of the devices mentioned above.
You sure its “Skipping” it and not just playing like 30 seconds of it and then moving on to the next Episode? My suggestion if its skipping Episode 5, go and manually select Episode 5 and try to play it. For me I’ve been watching Smallville and it will randomly select some episodes it doesn’t like play like 30 - 45 seconds of it then jump to next episode. When I got back and try to play that episode in this cause S02E02 and S02E03 it will only play 30 seconds of each and then go to next episode. But if I use VLC Player/Media Player they play just fine. You have the same version as me might be the same.
I have discovered that this is only happening on my Chromecast and my Chromecast Ultra. Today I went to BestBuy and purchased a Nvidia Sheild and the problem is resolved.
However the Nvida has Chromecast built into it and I have gone as far as testing it by casting it to the Nvida and it will start skipping episodes again. So I am either thinking it ia Chromecast or the Mobile Plex App.
